Update: Due to weather concerns because of the possibility of rain/snow and low temperatures, volunteers should use their own judgment as to participation in the River Rescue cleanup. There is no plan to postpone as this time. Stay tuned for further updates.

The IJAM’s Nature Center’s 29th Annual River Rescue event is being held on Saturday, April 7th this year from 9am until noon. Please click on the link below for additional information on the region wide effort and read the attached press release that will go out ahead of the event.

29th Annual River Rescue Post card

In the past we’ve had approximately 30 folks participate in the effort on Watts Bar Lake (WBL). This year we’re spreading the word early and hope to exceed 50 volunteers. If you’re looking to have a good time, meet new friends and have a major impact on the ecology of WBL we encourage you to join us. So please invite your family/friends to spend a day outside enjoying beautiful WBL. We would very much appreciate someone willing to lead a group on Thief Neck Island, it’s been several years since the island has been worked.

TVA will provide bags, gloves, trash grabbers and t-shirts to those who participate. Please let me know if you are interested in joining us and I’ll coordinate delivering supplies.

Thanks

Peter
